The Pediatric Obesity Foundation

The Pediatric Obesity Foundation (POF). The Pediatric Obesity Foundation is a charitable organization that is dedicated to raising funds in support of pediatric obesity. The POF was founded in 2005 and received charitable status in 2007. Although pediatric obesity has been identified as reaching epidemic proportions, funding has focused mainly on prevention rather than intervention. The Foundation's mission is to provide the opportunity for families of all income levels to access treatment services for their children; to support innovative research in the field of pediatric obesity; and to provide education to health care professionals and the general public about the issue of childhood obesity. The Pediatric Obesity Foundation is committed to the future and wellness of today's children; the leaders of tomorrow.

The Pediatric Obesity Foundation

Since receiving charitable status in 2007, the POF has raised over $600,000 in support of childhood obesity thanks to the many generous donors in Calgary. The money raised has gone to support over 150 families, to collect data and publish in the area of childhood obesity, and to educate the public and health care professionals through tools such as body mass index wheels.

The POF is currently run by Dr. Liann Meloff with the incredible support of the POF Board Members, Ms. Roberta Corbett, and Dr. Rob Meloff. Ms. Corbett and Dr. Meloff support the Foundation more from behind the scenes donating a great deal of their time. The POF would not be where it is today were it not for all these incredible people and the donors that are supporting the children of tomorrow.
